We loved the U.S. when we visited in 2012. We explored 17 states and we definitely have a hankering to visit the other 33 when we go back next time. I know Gert secretly looks at camper vans for next time! Seattle is top of our list so we thought we’d share some cool things to do in Seattle with you!
Renowned for its music bars and historical surroundings, Seattle is one of the most visited cities in the United States. Washington State’s largest city is home to some of the finest bars, restaurants and entertainment facilities in the district, making the nightlife in Seattle one of the best around.
AND…it’s kinda on the way to Forks! (ahem!)
Seattle, like loads of U.S. cities has plenty of restaurants and cafes serving up local and international cuisine, so there is a wide variety of places to grab a bite to eat. And it’s the U.S. so it’s not as expensive as other parts of the world! One of the most popular spots in the city is the Altura, located on Broadway East. The restaurant has a great menu, with dishes coming from the USA, Canada and South America. Make sure you call ahead and book a table though, this restaurant often has a waiting list! If you’re after a quick spot of lunch, the Bakery Nouveau in West Seattle might be a better place to drop in.
A major industry that Seattle is famed for is music. This city helped bring the genre of Grunge of the forefront of the charts in the early 1990’s thanks to Kurt Cobain’s Nirvana, as well as building the careers of legendary acts and producers such as Ray Charles and Quincy Jones. The city is home to some of the most iconic music venues in the world, so they are well worth visiting during your visit. The Show Box at The Market is perhaps best recognised for groups like Pearl Jam playing there, but it still hosts big name groups, as well as local acts. The venue hosts events regularly, so it would be worth checking the Show Box’s calendar before you go to make sure you catch an act you want to see.
As well as being famous for its musical history and food scene, Seattle has an unexpected string in its bow, adding to the fun of a visit. If you are looking for a great night of fun, then you could swing by the Emerald Queen Casino. This huge complex is heralded as the “Entertainment Capital of the North West” and has all the fun games like Let It Ride, Craps and Fortune Pai Gow. You can also choose from over 200 different slot games unless you want to stay in and use iphone casino! If you’re wanting to explore another gaming complex in the surrounding Seattle area, The Little Creek Casino could be the place to check out. Situated just out the of the city, The Little Creek has the likes of blackjack and poker available on live tables, as well as being free entry and open 7 days a week.
U.S. casinos give you loads of perks to hang out in their establishments. If you’ve ever visited you’ll know just what I mean! We had a tonne of fun and could go the whole knight and barely spend any cash!
There are tonnes of other things to do in Seattle but the number one advice would be to bring your umbrella! Seattle has a reputation for being a rainy place and no one wants to get soggy on holiday!
