Shipwrecked on Travel Planning Island!!

We haven’t left yet but we’re shipwrecked.  Travel Planning Island has appeared unexpectedly before us and we’ve run aground!!

It’s been a few weeks since my last post.  Things got really hectic when it was time to pack up and move out.  I regrouped a little once we were in the granny flat but I’ve been running in circles ever since.  In what parallel universe did I think I would have heaps of time to play on the internet once I had a two hour drive each way to work?

Glancing back over my post right after we had moved out, I made a list of things to do and marvelled that there was just 58 days to get it all done.

Now there’s just 37 days to go…….and that previous short list isn’t complete!

So here’s where we are at:  We are back in Brisbane and housesitting.  We now have two dogs and two birds to look after as well as having Kate back at home again.  Even with pets and another kid it’s still heavenly since I don’t have to drive more than one minute each way to work.  Cutting out that transit time makes life truly awesome!!  Who knew??

From the previous list we now have the girl’s passports, I’ve chased Jono’s birth certificate and put his passport application in today.

And we have booked our first lot of tickets.  Drum roll please…………

Gold Coast to Kuala Lumpur is now booked for 9.05am Friday 20th January 2012.  This is now the official start of our life changing year adventure.  This will be carved in the halls-of-something-famous as the day it all began.

Alas, no tax returns just yet….

I will be posting again from today.  I’ve seriously got withdrawal symptoms.  In case you haven’t noticed, I’ve got a lot to say.  No really, it’s true!!

My previous plan to participate in the Bootsnall 30 day Indie Travel Project came to a grinding halt right around moving time.  I was really enjoying a daily topic, so I’ve made a promise to myself to finish the list of posts.  And you, dear reader, get to be tortured by them too.  I’ve written a couple tonight and will post one each day until we get to the end.

C’mon……you know you were enjoying them!!

I will triumph over this shipwrecked moment and finish something I have started if it’s the last thing I do in the next 37 days!

    • Thanks Paige. I suspect I’m just overwhelmed by the sheer volume of choices that we have!! Even when I settle on a country there us a massive amount of information on it! So hard to decide what to see and where to go!!!

    • Hehehehe *evil laugh*. I think you’re right. I’m pretty close to just reverting to “in on this date, out on that date, must see these two items, make up the rest when we get there!!!”. Only problem is we will end up with a lot of down days this way. We have never really succeeded planning on the go!!

    • Oh don’t get me started on the paperwork!! I’m keeping the government in a surplus with the number of birth certificates I’m always paying for!!!!
