Sample Itinerary For My Women’s Retreat In Penang

Here’s a sample itinerary of how the #penangadventure retreat might play out.  I’ll be tweaking it as we get closer and costs are confirmed.  I’m not committing to the exact plan right now in case I find some better stuff to help you experience while in Penang!

Remember to click here to email me when you are ready to book your space!  10 spaces only for this retreat!

Day 1: Arrival Day

I’ll pick you up from the airport (or arrange your pickup if you are arriving at a different time from the others in the group).  You’ll receive your confirmed itinerary for the week listing all the cool stuff I have planned for you.  You’ll be taken straight to your hotel to check in and you can enjoy a relaxing afternoon recovering from your flight.  If you’re feeling energetic we can hit up a beach side restaurant for afternoon drinks while we listen to the ocean letting us know we are now on holiday!

Later, we’ll meet for a fabulous welcome dinner and get to know each other better!  After dinner you might like to wander through the night market or head back to your room to catch an early night.

Day 2:

Today you have the opportunity to spend the morning by the pool, relaxing.  Some ladies may need the lazy morning if they’ve travelled a long way to get here so this morning has purposefully been left very relaxed.  Whoever is feeling up for it can join me to go to the Butterfly Farm instead.  There are some interesting giant centipedes to be held if you’re brave enough!

We’ll have lunch at a restaurant by the beach and listen to the waves help us unwind.  Here you can watch tourists jet skiing, parasailing and even the occasional horse rider will wander up the beach!  We’ll probably take photos here too so we can Facebook our friends and make them all jealous!  Selfies with the palm trees anyone?

After lunch a car will pick us up to whisk us away for an afternoon of adventure.  We’ll visit the Floating Mosque, Kek Si Lok temple and then move on to Penang Hill to admire the view.

Dinner will be street food yumminess somewhere along the way!

And when we get home there’s always the option of the night market or hitting up a beach bar to kick on a little bit.  If you’d rather retire to your room to read a book in blissful peace, that’s OK too!

Day 3:

We’ll grab breakfast somewhere loca and catch the local bus to the Spice Garden where we’ll join the guided tour to learn all about spices.  After the tour we’ll lunch at the Monkey Tree Restaurant – we might even see some monkeys in the trees!

In the afternoon we’ll hit up the beauty salon for our first massage!  You can choose from a full body massage, a foot reflexology massage, a neck, shoulder and back massage or a pedicure.  There are other services available that you may wish to add at your own cost too.  I’m personally dying to try out the full body wrap to see if it actually does anything!

If you can drag yourself back to your hotel room after your relaxing massage you’ll have time to have a rest or a swim before dinner.

Dinner will be at Long Beach Hawker Centre.  This is my absolutely favourite place to eat because of the variety, the prices and the quality of food!  Fresh fruit juices and mango pancakes are just waiting for us to indulge in this busy eatery!

Day 4:

On day 4 we’re getting serious about seeing monkeys!  After an early breakfast we’ll set off earlier than usual on the local bus for the National Park.  You’ll have the choice to hike or boat to Monkey Beach (the hike takes several hours and is a serious workout – I’ll be on the boat!)

On Monkey beach we’ll enjoy the chance to see all kinds of monkeys close up.  We’ll eat lunch on the beach and have a swim.  We’ll have to post a lookout so the monkeys don’t steal our bags while we are swimming!  When we’ve had enough the boat will pick us up and we’ll go back to our hotel.

The afternoon can be spent lazing by the pool, on the beach or as part of a shopping trip to a local shopping plaza for those who are keen to hunt for some bargains!

Dinner will be back at Long Beach as there’s bound to be plenty of goodies you didn’t get to try last night!

DISCLAIMER:  The monkeys on the beach are wild animals.  Sometimes they are everywhere, other days there is not a single one and it cannot be predicted!  If we don’t see any, no tears OK?

Day 5:

By now we should all be feeling pretty relaxed!

After breakfast today you have the choice of going to the Hard Rock Hotel to use their pool for the morning or for the entire day if you prefer.  I’ll purchase day passes for whoever would like to go.  We’ll use their lounges and pool area to relax.  Food & drink prices are not cheap here by local standards (not too bad if you’re from an expensive country) so you have the option to wander across the road for lunch and then come back to the pool.  If your budget allows you can have lunch brought to you poolside or you can indulge in the Hard Rock Café, which has an extensive menu of goodies!  You can see the beach from the Hard Rock pool area and there’s nothing I like quite as much as watching parasailers gliding silently by!

If a day by the pool is not for you you can have a visit to a local shopping centre.  If you already shopped there previously then we’ll go to Georgetown and hit up the malls.

Sometime this afternoon there’ll be tasting of traditional Malaysian and Indian sweets.  If you’ve heard me rave about ‘green pancakes’ on Facebook or on this site then you’ll be keen to try them.  This is your chance!  These snacks will probably ruin your dinner but they are so worth it!

If you still have room for dinner we’ll go to one of the local restaurants or Long Beach if you’re all still keen to try their options.

Day 6:

Food tour day today!  It’s wise to not eat breakfast on this day!  Our tour will take care of lunch too!  There’s nothing more interesting than getting first hand information on the local food!  I’ve been on two food tours in different countries recently and can really recommend them!

In the afternoon we’ll return to the hotel and head out for our second lot of massages.  Once again you’ll have a choice of the massage you’d like to receive and the option to pay for extras and stay all afternoon!

We’ll most likely eat dinner at a beachside restaurant tonight since it’s nearly time to go home!  They sell ice-cream cake by the slice and the street vendors nearby sell BBQ corn on the cob – YUM!

Day 7:

This is our last full day and by now you’ll be wondering if you can keep eating all that food every day.  You’ll most likely want to skip breakfast!  Lol

We are going to explore Georgetown today – there’ll be a bit of exercise to walk off everything we’ve been eating!  A car will take us into Georgetown where we’ll wander through the Clan Jetties.  We’ll see more temples, Little India and explore our street food options some more.

In the afternoon we’ll continue to explore until we’re all walked out.  You’ll have some fabulous photos to take home with you from this great day out!

You’ll have time for a bit of a rest or a quick dip in the pool before we meet up for our farewell dinner.

There’ll be a colour theme for this dinner so be sure to pack the right clothes for this meal!  We’ll compare stories and reminisce about our great week!

This is your last chance to buy souvenirs from the night market if there’s something you’ve had your eye on all week!  Remember to barter hard though!

Day 8:

I know – I’m sorry I stuffed you so full of food!

Check out is 12pm from the hotel.  If you are heading off to the Penang airport I’ll organise your taxi to get you there in plenty of time.  For anyone who has night flights you can store your luggage at the hotel and have a leisurely day exploring on your own, swimming at the beach or any other activity you’re keen to try.  Your taxi will be organised to get you to the airport for your night flight.

For those flying out of KL back to their home destination you have the option of adding a 2 night KL package to your retreat.

If you take up this offer I’ll book us all on the VIP bus to KL and take you exploring for a couple more days!  Most flights from Penang stop off in KL so this can be a great way to extend your break!

We’ll check into our accommodation on the first afternoon and then head straight off to see the Petronas towers and fountains.  We should catch them by twilight and in total darkness.  This is an iconic place and you can get some really fun and memorable photos here.

On the second day we’ll visit the Batu Caves by train and climb the 272 steps to see more monkeys and take fabulous photos of the golden statue of Lord Murugan.  There are Indian sweets to try out and the usual souvenir stands if you’d like a memento of your visit.  For lunch we’ll travel to the China Town markets and eat awesome beef noodle soup (my shout!)  Then you can have as long as you like in the afternoon and evening to explore the markets and barter for a bargain (or 6!)

We’ll either eat at a great street food stall which serves amazing banana roti (if they have room for us) or hit up the food court in the China Town market for dinner.

On Day 3 you can explore wherever you like and I’ll see you safely to your bus to the airport.  Then you can fall into a coma on the flight home!

I can’t wait to welcome you to Malaysia so you can try out everything Penang has to offer!  I’m excited to show you around and fill you up with amazing food!

Remember I’m limiting this to just 10 ladies – book now so you don’t miss out!
